The Just Culture Algorithm™
The Just Culture Algorithm is a structured process to guide managers through the evaluation of an event, near miss, or simply the analysis of a risky behavior.
It is a process for conducting an investigation of the event, for identifying system contributions, and for assessing accountability (whether remedial or punitive) for those involved in the event.
The Just Culture Algorithm was not designed solely as a safety tool.
Rather it is meant to be a tool for evaluating conduct in any circumstance where the actions of an employee do not match the values of the organization.
It can be used by a regulator in evaluating the conduct of a regulated professional, by an organization in evaluating the conduct of a manager, or by a manager in evaluating the conduct of a staff employee.
Please note that the Algorithm should not be used without training.
